No. LABOUR made it. LABOUR made my phone, my laptop, the internet, this website, my clothing, my house, all social media, and everything else. LABOUR makes things, Capitalism doesn’t because economic systems don’t ‘make’ anything, they just determine who gets paid for making things.
Fuck it, making a full 3 in a row reblog.
LABOR IS ENTITLED TO ALL IT CREATES
Good. Then leave your house and give it to the construction workers.
1. I don’t own a house, I’m poor, and I’m 90% sure that @warmhappycat doesn’t own a house either 2. Socialism don’t work like that actually, your comment is proof that you don’t understand how the systems would function. It would simply allow the construction workers to be paid more, and the owner of the construction company somewhat less than they currently do, thus more fairly compensating the workers rather than over-compensating the owner of the company, who doesn’t do any physical labour.
When we say ‘Labour is entitled to all it creates’ we don’t mean ‘if you produce cars for a living, you’re entitled to all the cars!’ we mean if you produce cars for a living you’re entitled to an equal portion of the amount that car sells for. Let’s say you work in an assembly line and twelve other people work with you to create it, and one guy runs the factory you work in, and one guy sells the cars, and three guys clean the factory and sales floor. That means the cost of each car is divided 17 ways between the 17 people it takes to create it.
If you own a bakery and 8 people produce the baked goods all night, and 3 people sell through the day, it means that because 14 of you were needed to make and sell all those pies and loaves, the profits of them would be divided in 14 equal ways. It doesn’t mean one person owns all the whole wheat and one owns all the pot pies.
But why bother understanding what people are talking about and how systems function when we could leave inane comments on posts that prove we have no idea what we’re talking about, right?
I want to be really clear about something: Planned Parenthood has done more to prevent abortion than the pro-life movement ever has.
Yup, preventing abortion by giving abortions. Makes sense!
No you fucking crusty nutsack giving people the education and the tools to not become pregnant in the first fucking place
One of my Christian friends made a Facebook post about how PP gave her tons of resources when she was trying to get pregnant and people were actually genuinely shocked that they provided such resources; they had fully bought into the idea that PP is just an “abortion factory”. The misinformation that’s been spread about PP is unreal.
gosh it’s almost like Planned Parenthood will help you plan for parenthood
So my facebook friend just posted this pic with this text….
Well, I just witnessed blatant racial injustice with my own eyes. I was getting in my car after exiting a store when a young black man stumbled past me and collapsed against the store wall. When I got out to see if he was okay, a group of white people came rushing over, one of whom was a 20-something white woman who declared in distress, “I ran a red light and hit him with my car!” People immediately assured her that SHE would be okay, meanwhile the young man is writhing in pain on the ground, pants leg torn, tears running down his face. When the police arrived and the young woman explained what happened, it was suggested to her that maybe the light had been yellow and that the young man had “darted out into the street into her path.” I was floored. I said, “But she just SAID she ran the red light and hit him in the intersection!”
The police officers then led the young woman away and began talking with her privately in low tones. When the paramedics FINALLY got there I was surprised at the hostility they showed towards the young man. One blonde female EMT (shown in the photo) suggested that he couldn’t be THAT hurt if he was able to walk from the place where he was struck to the sidewalk where he finally collapsed. White bystanders commented several times about “What that poor girl must be going through.” I was the only one who commented on what the young man must be going through, what, with his mangled leg and all. I am absolutely positive that in the end “that poor girl” will be absolved of all wrongdoing and be able to go on her merry way. After all, she just ran a red light and slammed her car into the body of some black kid on a bike, right?
And people wonder why black people are so angry and want to break shit.
this is also why when people make their racist arguments based on crime stats, i leave the conversation immediately. you think this is the first and only instance where a white criminal (and yes running a red light is a criminal act) is not reported or arrested by the police? you don’t think that white criminality is vastly under-reported in this country? you don’t think that if the driver was black the the person hit was white, the cops would have arrested him immediately? you don’t think that these “little” incidents of racism happen to us everyday in different variations?
when i was 15 i dated someone who was 22 years old. at the time it was fine and i saw nothing wrong with it. now, as someone who has been 22 once or twice, what the fuck is wrong with you? you’re old enough to go to bars, use dating websites, do LITERALLY anything else besides hang out at the hot topic in the mall flirting with 9th graders who are buying PINS for their BACKPACKS with their PARENTS money
i love cutthroat kitchen but bingewatching makes it really stand out how often alton brown refers to himself as ‘daddy’ and makes contestants wear spreader bars
We met Alton Brown at a show he did here - we paid the extra cash to meet him and get a blurry cellphone pic with him and have him sign a picture. He noticed my (male) companion’s pocket watch, and proceeded to order him to take it out of his pocket. It wasn’t obnoxious, it was in a Dom tone that brooked no argument. So he complied. When he found out it wasn’t wound, and so not working, he was deeply disappointed, and told him to do better next time.
If this guy isn’t a Dom, I’ll eat that spreader bar.
This post just keeps going new places every reblog cycle.
Every time this post comes around it has another plot twist
The first time I saw this post, I had just finished telling my husband that Alton overuses the word “lube” on Good Eats when he’s referring to oiling up a pan. Alton knows exactly what he’s doing.
